Fun Things to Do In Nanaimo This Holiday Season

As we are on our way into December, the holiday season is soon upon us! Our team has put together a list of fun things to do in Nanaimo this holiday season that you won’t want to miss out on!


 Gogo’s Christmas Farm

This locally famous Christmas Tree farm is a beautiful place to create memories and take your children to visit this holiday season. The offer top-notch Christmas trees at an affordable price.

Have a wonderful time exploring the trees here, then if you wish to, you can cut down your favorite to take it back home!

 

Santa’s Gingerbread Village

Location: 101 Gordon St 101 Gordon Street Nanaimo, BC V9R 5J8 (Vancouver Island Conference Centre).

When: Saturdays and Sundays

December 3, 4, 10, 11, 17 & 18 from 11:00 – 4:00 pm.

This Winterfest event is a free event that provides families the opportunity to get a picture taken with Santa each weekend during the dates above.

Santa will be arriving by air, sea, and firetruck on Saturdays at 11 am, don’t miss his special arrival! Please note, you are required to take your own photos this year.

 

Santa’s Wonderland

Location: Cabela’s – 6902 North Island Hwy, Nanaimo.

Enjoy the magic of Christmas inside every Cabela’s Canada and Bass Pro store from Nov. 12 – Dec. 24. Take a photo with Santa in the iconic Bass Pro Shops Santa’s Wonderland and receive a free 4×6 photo and shareable video. There will also be giveaways for the first 50 kids every weekday.

This year, advanced registration is required and can be made up to 7 days in advance.


Nanaimo Yacht Club – Christmas Light Cruise

When: Saturday, Dec. 3 at 6:00 pm

Beginning at 6 pm in the Nanaimo Harbour, decorated boats decked out in Christmas lights will travel around Nanaimo Harbour through Newcastle Channel to Departure Bay and then return. Head out to any of these points of interest to watch them cruise and sail by.

 

The Great Nanaimo Toy Drive and Holiday Train

Location: Steve Marshall Ford (3851 Shenton Road, Nanaimo)

When: Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, at 5:00 pm

The beautiful Holiday Train will be lit up for you to enjoy while you drop off a new, unwrapped toy for The Great Nanaimo Toy Drive. The train will be parked on the tracks for a couple of hours in front of Steve Marshall Ford, and Santa will be beside the train handing out candy canes.

This is an outdoor event, so dress for the weather!

Skate with Santa

Location(s): Frank Crane Arena & Nanaimo Ice Centre

Frank Crane Arena: Wednesday, December 21 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm

Nanaimo Ice Centre: Thursday, December 22 from 6:15 – 7:45 pm

Skate with Santa and get the chance to tell him how good you’ve been this year! When making the list of fun things to do in Nanaimo this holiday season, this one was an absolute must!

 

Winter Wonderland Skating Events

Location: Frank Crane Arena

When: Dec 24 – 11:45 am – 3:00 pm

Dec 26 – Dec 30 from 11:45 am – 4:45 pm & 7:45 pm – 9:30 pm

Join the fun at Frank Crane Arena! The whole arena will be transformed into a

SNOW GLOBE for the event, and the loonie skate sessions include free skate and helmet rentals.

Tubing at Mount Washington

The snow tubing park in Mount Washington is another great fun activity that you should not miss this year. This is the most fun your kids could have without skis – as they could swirl, spin, slide, and take selfies.
