Extension is a unique and well-established community on the outskirts of Nanaimo. This neighbourhood is one of the older parts of Nanaimo and played a big role in Nanaimo’s mining industry in the late 1800s to early 1900s. Over the years, this area has been relatively untouched by development, offering privacy and tranquility for those who live there. Many of the homes in this neighbourhood are older, with some dating as far back as the first and second world wars. Properties in this neighbourhood often include spacious homes set on large, beautiful lots surrounded by wilderness.

The neighbourhood of Extension is home to some of Nanaimo’s most beautiful parks, with many others just a quick drive away. Chase River Estuary Park, Colliery Dams Park, Extension Ridge, Nanaimo River, and Morden Colliery Park are all within the area.
