Nanaimo’s Old City Quarter is a significant part of the original economic core of the city. With buildings dating back as far as the late 1800s, this neighbourhood attracts Nanaimo’s biggest history buffs. OCQ properties are mainly charming character homes as well as new developments and condos for those who prefer modern designs. Most of the properties in the area have lovely views of Nanaimo’s harbour.
The Old City Quarter has had a steady increase in renovations over the past several years, making it a now vibrant area filled with families and young couples. This neighbourhood is attractive to lovers of local shopping and dining. Some of the unique restaurants of the Old City Quarter include Penny’s Palapa—a floating Mexican restaurant in the inner harbour—Gabriel’s Café, New York Style Pizza and Pasta, and The Nest Bistro. Local shoppers may also visit The Flying Fish, Quintessentials, and NYLA Fresh Thread.
A previous Old City listing of ours took in great views of the downtown Nanaimo area with the harbor beyond.
Another great example of an Old City charmer!
